Fear Not

Luke 12:42- Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Amplified- Do not be seized with alarm and struck with fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom!

When Jesus admonishes us not to fear, it means that it is within our power to resist fear. Fear and faith are opposite forces. When we meditate upon God's Word, faith is established. When we meditate on what the world and the enemy has to say, fear is developed. When bad news comes, if we have spent time in the Word, we will not respond in fear. Faith must be well rooted in our hearts to withstand an attack of fear. Fear wants to seize our hearts and minds, and dominate our words, but with the Word of God we can stand strong in faith and have peace in the midst of the storm.

I read a testimony this week that impressed me. Gloria Copeland is a Bible teacher and in her latest book, she writes about one of the most deadliest forms of meningitis that attacked her little granddaughter, Lyndsey. Children in the area where they lived had died in the outbreak. When the doctor at the hospital gave the diagnosis to the family, he said that the hours to come would be critical for the child and would determine whether she would live or die. Gloria's daughter, Kellie, who is the child's mother and who had been raised in a family of strong faith, responded by emphatically saying, "I REFUSE TO FEAR." Kellie said that the fear that shrouded her from the doctor's report, lifted and never returned. The family agreed in prayer and waited for news of a breakthrough. By morning the child was conscious and doing well. Even before Lyndsey had regained full consciousness, her first words to her grandfather were, "Pa Pa, by the stripes of Jesus I am healed." That word from God was in her spirit. They had a choice to believe the report of the doctor or the report of the Lord. They were well established in faith and their automatic response was one of faith.

We must take the time to establish the Word of God in our hearts when times are good. Then no matter what may try to come against us in this life, will not overtake us.

Matthew 7: 24-25 So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts upon them (obeying them) will be like a sensible, (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon the rock. The rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against the house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock
